This delightful Polish grandmother — Babcia in Polish — proudly holds a bowl filled with pierogi, one of Poland's most beloved traditional foods. Her dress is beautifully decorated with colorful flowers, green and yellow foliage, intricate borders, and classic cobalt blue accents. Her traditional blue headscarf completes the wonderful folk-inspired design.
Unlike our larger hand-sculpted clay Babcia figures, this Grannie is genuine glazed Bolesławiec Polish Pottery produced by the Galia factory. Galia is a family-owned pottery manufacturer whose ceramic tradition dates to 1979. Its pottery is handmade and decorated using traditional Bolesławiec techniques.
Turn the figurine over and you'll find the Galia factory mark, along with handwritten markings — a wonderful detail for collectors of authentic Polish Pottery.
At approximately 9 inches tall, she is substantial enough to make a beautiful statement on a kitchen shelf, hutch, pottery display, or alongside your favorite Polish serving pieces.
